Production Technician

Role Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Manufacturing, the qualified individual will be responsible for assembling, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing medical devices containing electro-mechanical assemblies, wiring harnesses, and printed circuit board assemblies. You will leverage your skills to identify and document issues related to the assembly process and communicate them to the broader team.
Role Responsibilities
  • Assemble devices according to exact specifications following technical drawings, diagrams, and work instructions
  • Perform device testing to verify the quality of the product
  • Identify testing failures and provide solutions
  • PCB assembly testing, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Manually soldering of electronic components onto printed circuit boards
  • Provide assistance in creating and verifying work instructions and procedures
  • Perform other manufacturing duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager
  • Electronic/Mechanical Engineering Technician Diploma or equivalent
  • IPC J-STD-001 certification would be an asset
Work Experience
  • Previous experience working in a medical device manufacturing environment
  • Good mechanical aptitude and dexterity
  • Knowledge of pneumatics is an asset
  • Ability to communicate well in English, both verbally and in written format
  • Follows good documentation practices
  • Self-starter, able to work independently
  • Excellent troubleshooting abilities
  • Experience in soldering and de-soldering of surface mount electronic components on printed circuit board assemblies
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic drawings and troubleshoot electronic circuits
  • Experience in building cable harnesses and assemblies
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools and lab equipment in an electronics assembly environment
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or ISO 13485:2016 processes
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office software

Quality Engineering Specialist (Contract)

Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Quality and Regulatory Affairs, primary responsibilities include designing and maintaining quality standards, equipment, processes, developing quality control systems, and determining corrective actions. You will work with team members, managers and supervisors to implement quality measures during design and in production.
Role Responsibilities
  • Carry out all duties focusing on the goal of internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborating with design teams and operations managers to develop and implement controls and improvements.
  • Investigating and troubleshooting product and/or production issues.
  • Provide Root Cause Analysis and leadership in the resolution of customer concerns.
  • Developing corrective actions, solutions, and improvements.
  • Communicate quality related changes to Engineering Department to ensure that the corrective action can be applied to future similar circumstances.
  • Monitoring and analyzing quality performance.
  • Responsible for certain KPIs and measures with regards to an improved product quality during development and production.
  • Responsible for alerting management for all items affecting product quality/functionality in a negative manner.
  • Ensure knowledge about customer specific requirements.
  • Ensure knowledge about risk management and product safety.
  • Support project-related activities (e.g. FMEAs, process flow charts, etc.)
  • Conduct audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports.
  • Support design/production prototypes and drive for best process quality.
  • Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to Production of new products are in accordance with approved data.
  • Coach, motivate and communicate quality management focus cross-functionally to facilitate the achievement of quality deliverables.
  • Present and/or chair quality focused meetings and drive consensus/buy-in across multiple disciplines.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects, with a focus on quality and process improvements using problem solving methodologies such as: Kaizen, FMEA and Six Sigma.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor or designate
  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering or Science from a recognized institution.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485:2016 + MDSAP, CMDR, European MDD/MDR, US FDA QSR requirements.
  • Experience in quality assurance at a medical device company with Class II and III devices is an asset.
  • Experience in handling customer complaints is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting quality data.
  • Excellent communication skills in reading, writing, and speaking at all levels of organization.
  • The ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Self-starter that is highly motivated, creative, and able to work in a team environment.
